Abstract

The article discusses the formation, doctrinal foundations and historical development of the Maturidi theological school, one of the two principal creeds of Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama'a. Founded by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi of Samarkand, this school emphasizes harmonizing reason and revelation within the framework of the Qur'an, Sunnah and Hanafi jurisprudence. The article also highlights the scholarly contributions of Shaykh Muhammad Sodiq Muhammad Yusuf in reviving, interpreting and promoting Maturidi doctrine during the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
